前作『坂庭省悟メモリアルアルバム
心の旅』を出版してから、二年の歳月が過ぎようとしています。
当初第二弾を、という考えは持っていなかったのですが、たくさんの方からのご要望もありミュージシャン・坂庭省悟の記録を、もう少しカタチとして残してみたいと思い、このアルバムをリリースします。
今回のアルバムは、坂庭省悟が大好きだった、たいせつな仲間と「聖なる一回性」ともいえる価値ある時を共有した彼の姿を想い出しながら編集しました。

Bull/ ■2001年2月23日、デヴィッド・グリスマン・クィンテット(DGQ)の結成25周年記念のライヴがワシントン州タコマでのウィンターグラス・フェスで行われた。オリジナル・メンバーであるトニー・ライス
(guitar)、ダロル・アンガー (fiddle/mandolin)、トッド・フィリップス
(bass/mandolin) の3人にマイク・マーシャル
(mandolin/fiddle)も加わり、1977年に発表したあのファースト・アルバム『DAVID
GRISMAN
QUINTET』の収録作品10曲をその曲順通りに演奏したという。そのスペシャルなライヴ演奏を収めたのが本作だ。それにDGQのお馴染みのレパートリーである「Minor
Swing」「14 Miles to Barstow」「Dawg's
Bull」の3曲も演奏され、それも含んだ全13曲収録。そんなライヴ・アルバムが結成35周年の今年になってリリースされるのだから、長生きはしておくものだ。そんな私と同様の感慨を持つ「御同輩」だけでなく、若いリスナーの方にも是非お聴き頂きたい素晴らしいライヴ・アルバムである。全13トラック、収録時間78分12秒。紙ジャケット仕様。

POEMS II』と『I'M BEGINNING TO SEE THE
LIGHT』のデュエット・アルバム２作を残している。そんな彼等が90年代半ばにマーティンの母国イギリスで由緒あるウィグモア・ホールで披露したデュエット・ライヴが本作である。何とグリスマン(mandolin)は「Tears」と「Blue

1993年2月にたった１度、デヴィッド・グリスマンのスタジオで行われたトニー・ライスとジェリー・ガルシアとグリスマン3人のセッションを収めたテープは、その一部が2000年にアルバム『THE
PIZZA TAPES』としてリリースされたが、遂に今回の特大エディション『THE
PIZZA TAPES: EXTRA LARGE
EDITION』としてその全容が世に出たのである。これは凄いことだ。今回初めて聴くことができるようになったトラックが幾つもあるのは当然だが、曲順もセッション時のままで収めたというから、彼らがプレイしたそのままが楽しめるという形で再リリースされたことも嬉しい。録音当時トニーは41歳、グリスマン46歳、ガルシア50歳。「気軽なセッション」だったはずであるが、彼等3人の顔合わせだからこそ１回きりの稀有なチャンスが生んだスタジオ・レコーディングは「Legendary
Session[伝説的セッション]」と呼ばれるようになった。『ピザ・テープス・セッション完全版』、聴かずにいるのはモッタイない。紙ジャケット仕様。
